Charging Your Order to a Credit Card

 For your convenience, the Ichabod Shop accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express for online and in-store purchases.

Here's how credit card orders are handled online:

1) When you place an order online, an authorization hold on the funds in your account is placed in the order dollar amount. This authorization hold notifies your bank or financial institution of a pending charge from Ichabod Shop. Unless additional charges apply, this amount is the maximum amount we will charge you.

2) When your order is processed, the actual charge is settled from the authorization hold. Your final charges may vary from the authorization hold if you specified a used book preference, or if an item you ordered was unavailable at the time of order processing.

If you have any items on backorder, an additional charge may go through, and will appear as a separate charge in your credit card activity.

 

My order didn't go through, but I have been charged. What do I do?

Our credit card processing system places an authorization hold for funds on your card, even if the transaction is declined. The hold on the funds will remain on your card until your financial institution removes the authorization.

The amount of time the authorization hold on funds is determined by your financial institution, but should clear within five business days.

It is important to note that for every time you submit your order, an authorization hold is placed on your card. Please hit "submit order" once, and only once!

 

I used my debit card, and have been charged twice. Why?

If you used a debit card, and see two separate charges on your account, your bank or financial institution may still be holding the original authorization hold on your funds, in addition to the actual charge.

Please allow at least five business days for this authorization hold to clear, and release the funds to you.
